A possible engagement project that could be created with CRITFC would be creating a more interactive online program to spread CRITFC’s views and help in furthering the understanding of how Native Tribes view management in the Columbia River. In today’s day and age life has become more uncertain and our opportunities to interact with people have become limited due to these unpredictable circumstances. By taking advantage of the internet and creating an interactive program that can be accessed at any time, we can allow for the public to consistently access and discuss views that pertain to CRITFC’s organization. While CRITFC currently has a website discussing their organization’s view, a website with a more interactive educational program would allow for a more thorough and comprehensible learning experience. CRITFC could improve their digital presence through the creation of more interactive learning programs that they could offer on their website. These learning programs could be tailored to certain levels of understanding on fishing and it’s management and could provide the opportunity to spark an engaging conversation on many different aspects involving fishing and management within the Columbia River. By offering different learning programs to other fishers, school kids, policy makers, environmentalists, or even just the general public that explain CRITFC’s goals and beliefs they could reach a wider variety of individuals and allow for broader understandings and perspectives
This engagement project would include CRITFC and any individuals in the general public that wanted to learn more about their mission and views regarding fishing in the Columbia River. With multiple programs that could be tailored to certain levels of understanding surrounding fishing , the education program could be shown to students around the Columbia River and could give them a better understanding of the multiple fishing perspectives surrounding the management of the Columbia River. These educational programs could also be used to spread and educate voters on the tribe’s views while trying to pass policies on fishing regulations or changes in management of the Columbia River. Overall CRITFC’s organization can reach multiple groups of people through many different interactive media platforms where their message can be spread with ease and can be accessed at anytime. Creating an interactive and more accessible learning experience would allow for CRITFC to spread their views throughout a wider range of individuals with differing individuals.
CRITFC can create better media presence by working on spreading their message on a wider range of social media platforms. By offering a place for an open conversation and allowing people to access their mission on multiple forms of social media they could reach a wide variety of people and would be able to share their “truths” and experiences to more people creating a better public understanding of how they view fishing and its management. Also by the Columbia River Inter-Tribal Fish Commission creating a more interactive program they can allow a forum where people can learn more about their organization. This type of open social media presence can also allow for others to share their opinions and create a more open environment for discussion on fishing management. Easy accessibility is also an important trait when spreading your message. Allowing easy access to knowledge makes learning a more efficient experience and can allow a better understanding of the full message when carefully laid out. The creation of an interactive program that spreads the views of CRITFC, they can allow for a more informed public on the issues their organization faces and can help convince others to support their mission in policy matters and through financial support. Overall providing effective and easily obtained resources allows a better connection with the public and makes allows their message to be received by more groups of people.
