    Course Summary

    Environmental engagement is a means of connecting environmental scholarship and people. ENVS 295 is a course which explores the intricacies of this process via analyses and discussion of articles, discourse with active stakeholders in the discipline, and writing through the content we encounter. At the start of the semester, students participated in a Reconnaissance Trip in which we visited and interacted with a number of organizations throughout Oregon -engaging with active organizations about a range of environmental concerns. Throughout the semester, we learned about the branching concerns of environmental engagement -effective action, misinformation, significance of stakeholders, and models of environmental communication. With this knowledge, Lindsey Dickmeyer, Noah Neubert and I built a relationship with the organization Sustainable Northwest in order to better understand what environmental engagement looks like in a real-world, contemporary context.
